Learn how to mix up a great tasting pitcher of Margaritas and serve them up like a pro. This prize winning recipe uses just three ingredients, tequila, beer, and limeade.
A good recipe doesn’t have to be complicated or have lots of expensive ingredients. This simple recipe has won margarita contests in the Caribbean, Washington State and Canada. Forget about the Cointreau, the triple sec, the agave nectar, or any other exotic ingredients. Just three simple things are needed to make this margarita recipe for a crowd. The Basic, Award Winning Margarita Recipe:
Put all the ingredients in a pitcher, stir together, add crushed ice and serve in chilled, salted margarita glasses. To Make a Frozen Margarita With This RecipeFor a frozen margarita, put the can of frozen limeade and the tequila in a blender with crushed ice and process. Continue to add ice until the mix is pretty firm and won’t accept any more ice. Put the very thick icy mix in a pitcher, and then stir in the light beer. If the beer is added before blending in the ice, it will foam like mad and make quite a mess. Salt the Rim of the GlassTake chilled glasses out of the freezer and salt the rims with a course salt, not ordinary table salt. Kosher salt, sold in most grocery stores, works well. Some bartenders mix the salt half and half with sugar, which cuts the salt content, and gives the rim a sweeter taste. Put the salt or salt and sugar in a shallow dish or saucer, dampen the rims of the glasses by running a wedge of fresh lime along the rim, then dip the rims into the salt. Beer in a MargaritaLight beer is not generally consider a gourmet ingredient, so it is best not to mention that a cheap beer is a major ingredient in this margarita recipe until guests have taken the first sips of their drinks. The proof is definitely in the taste. The brand of light beer doesn’t seem to make any difference in the final product. The Frozen LimeadeAll brands of frozen limeade mix are not alike. Some are more sugary or syrupy and the lime flavor is less intense. Generally the cheaper store brands are not as good as the more expensive national brands. Experiment to see which ones have the strongest lime flavor. Use this easy and inexpensive recipe to mix up a crowd pleasing batch of margaritas.
