Warm Up Your Holiday Celebrations With These Cozy Drinks

Multiple varieties of classic recipes for egg nogs, hot rums and ciders for holiday celebrations.

Start your own holiday tradition with these eggnog, cider and hot rum cocktails.

Egg Nogs

These recipes are made with raw eggs, look for pasteurized eggs in the market to reduce the chances of salmonella.

New England Egg Nog

Separate eggs. Beat yolks (save egg whites), add sugar, dissolve. Add liquors and stir. Add milk and cream and stir. Let sit. Beat egg whites until stiff; add to yolk mixture (fold in). Keep cool until serving. Top with cinnamon or nutmeg.

Southern Charm Egg Nog

Brandy and vanilla ice cream add the twist and charm to this favorite.

Beat egg yolks, add ice cream and milk. Add bourbon, rum and brandy. Beat egg whites and fold in. Top with nutmeg.

Hot Ciders

Classic Mulled Cider (with rum)

Combine all ingredients and heat without boiling. Serve.

Non alcoholic Hot Cider (with mulling spices) for 20

This holiday favorite will fill your home with seasonal fragrances.

Heat cider, sugar, cloves, allspice and cinnamon and simmer approximately 20 minutes.

Non alcoholic Orange Hot Cider

Combine all ingredients, bring to boil and simmer approximately 20 minutes. Strain and serve.

Hot Toddies

New England Hot Buttered Rum (or Hot Toddy)

Once a considered the best “cure” for a common cold, the hot toddy soothes any care away.

Coat inside of mug with butter, add sugar. Add rum and fill with boiling water. Stir.

Southern Style Hot Toddy

This recipe adds clove and lemon.

To a mug add rum, sugar, cloves and lemon slice. Fill with boiling water. Stir.

Classic Hot Rum Drinks

Night Cap

Add rum and sugar syrup to mug. Fill with warm milk, stir. Sprinkle with nutmeg.

Flaming Black Stripe

Dissolve molasses in mug with a bit of boiling water. Add stick of cinnamon and lemon and boiling water. Add rum, floating on top, flame for a few seconds. Stir (will put flame out). Sprinkle with nutmeg.
