Champagne seems to be synonymous with celebrations, especially New Year's Eve, but even those that prefer cocktails can get in on the fun.

Champagne and other sparkling wines make fun and festive additions to a number of cocktails, so there's truly something for everyone.

Sugar Plum Fairy

Thank you to TheBar.com for this signature drink from Ciroc.

  • 2 oz. Stirrings Plum Martini
  • 1 oz. Ciroc Vodka
  • splash of champagne

In a champagne flute, combine Sugar Plum Martini and vodka, then top off with sparkling wine or champagne. For extra sparkle, garnish the flute with Stirrings Sugar Plum Rimmer.

Champagne Cosmo

Another delicious Ciroc signature cocktail from TheBar.com

  • 1 oz. Ciroc Vodka
  • 1 dash Grand Marnier
  • 1.5 oz. cranberry juice
  • .5 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz. champagne

Combine vodka, Grand Marnier, cranberry juice and lime in a shake over ice, and shake to combine. Strain into a chilled champagne flute, and top off with champagne. Serve garnished with an orange twist.

Black Velvet

Even beer drinkers can get in on the champagne fun!

  • 1/2 pint Guinness
  • 1/2 pint champagne

Pour the Guinness into the glass first, then carefully add champagne so that the drinks layer.

Botticelli

  • 1 part Absolut Kurant
  • 1 part passionfruit juice
  • 1 part white cranberry juice
  • 1 part champagne

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice, and give a quick stir, just to combine. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Serve garnished with several fresh raspberries.

Irish Velvet Isle

  • 1 part Irish whiskey
  • 1 part stout (or other dark beer)
  • 1 part champagne

Pour the whiskey into a pint or wine glass. Top off with equal parts beer and champagne. Stir lightly just to mix.

Champagne Martini

  • 2 parts raspberry vodka
  • 5 parts champagne
  • 1 part Cointreau
  • 2 parts cranberry juice
  • 1 part pineapple juice

Combine vodka, Cointreau, cranberry and pineapple juice in a shaker with ice cubes and shake until very cold. Add champagne, and give a quick stir, just to combine - over-mixing will destroy the champagne bubbles. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass, and serve garnished with a pineapple wedge.

Midnight Kiss

  • 1 1/2 oz. Pallini Raspicello
  • 1 oz. cranberry juice
  • 3 oz. champagne
  • squeeze of fresh lime juice

Shake Raspicello, cranberry juice, and lime juice with ice. Strain into a champagne flute, and top with champagne.

Champagne Punch

This variation of the traditional Planters Punch is light and bubbly, but still has the tropical warmth of rum.

  • 1 part cognac
  • 3 parts dark rum
  • 1 part lemon juice
  • 1 part maraschino liqueur
  • 1 part orange curacao
  • 6 parts pineapple juice
  • 2 parts simple syrup
  • champagne

Fill a tall glass to the rim with ice cubes. Combine all ingredients except champagne in a shaker with ice cubes, and shake until very cold. Strain into the glass, and top off with champagne.

Flirtini

  • 1 part vodka
  • 6 parts champagne
  • 2 parts pineapple juice
  • 1 part triple sec

Pour vodka, champagne, pineapple juice and triple sec into a chilled cocktail glass and mix lightly. Serve garnished with a maraschino cherry.
