Tropical Rum Cocktail Recipes for Hot Weather

Rum is a historically important ingredient in tropical drinks. When combined with fresh fruits and juices, it serves as the ideal summer cocktail.

Thanks to its island roots, rum has traditionally been associated with hot weather relief. This summer, have Happy Hour at home with simple tropical rum cocktails! Here are three easy and tasty rum beverage recipes that can be mixed at a home bar, regardless of its vicinity to the beach. The freshest fruit juices possible will make these special drinks even more delightful!

Cranberry Rum Punch Cocktail

A medley of rums combine with pineapple and cranberry juice to please the taste buds. It's sweet and fruity, but beware...it packs a punch!

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce dark rum
  • 1 ounce spiced rum
  • 1/2 ounce coconut rum
  • Pineapple Juice
  • Cranberry Juice

Preparation

  1. Combine rums over ice in a tall glass.
  2. Add pineapple and cranberry juices in equal parts, to fill glass.
  3. Toss or stir to mix. Alter juices to taste.
  4. Garnish with a cherry and a slice of lime. Cheers!

Note: This cocktail can be adjusted to fill a punch bowl. Combine 6 ounces dark rum, 6 ounces spiced rum, 3 ounces coconut rum, and 1.5 liters each of cranberry and pineapple juices. Adjust to taste.

Cherry Bahama Mama Cocktail

This cocktail combines rums with tropical juices. Its layered colors make it beautiful to look at, and even more enjoyable to taste!

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce spiced rum
  • 1/2 coconut rum
  • 1/2 ounce banana curacao
  • Orange Juice
  • Pineapple Juice
  • 1/2 ounce grenadine

Preparation

  1. Combine rum and curacao over ice.
  2. Add juices in equal parts to fill glass. Toss or stir to mix.
  3. Add grenadine to top of the drink. The syrup will naturally layer after a moment to create a special "sunrise" appearance.
  4. Garnish with cherries and orange slices. Enjoy!

Thirst-Quenching Blue Hawaiian Cocktail; On the Rocks or Blended

This tropical cocktail is enhanced by assorted rums and fresh pineapple juice. It is sweet but strong!

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce coconut rum
  • 1 ounce spiced rum
  • 1 ounce blue curacao
  • Pineapple juice
  • Splash Sprite

Preparation

  1. Combine liquors over ice in a tall glass.
  2. Add pineapple juice to fill glass. Add splash of Sprite.
  3. Toss or stir to mix. Garnish with lemon slice and cherry. Enjoy!

Note: This cocktail is excellent frozen. To prepare a slushy Blue Hawaiian, simply throw this recipe in the blender, and adjust until desired consistency is reached. To prevent the drink from losing its flavor with too much ice, this recipe can be enhanced by frozen chunks of fresh pineapple. Similarly, Coco Lopez cream of coconut maybe added for extra flavor.
